McDonald Earns All-Big Ten Honorable Mention Recognition
11/29/2016 3:01:00 PM | Women's Volleyball
McDonald is the first Hoosiers since Jordan Haverly in 2010 to earn an All-Big Ten honor.
McDonald hit a .364 hitting percentage in her final season for the Hoosiers, the second best hitting percentage for a single season in school history. The single season hitting percentage was the fourth best mark in the Big Ten in the regular season.
"I'm very proud of Jazzy and this honor she earned as being one of the best players in the toughest conference in the country," IU head coach Sherry Dunbar-Kruzan said. "Her accolades speak for themselves but I was most proud of the change she made mid-season. Her mentality, work rate and production helped our program take a big step forward and will leave a mark for our young middle blocker group and team in the years ahead."
McDonald finished her career with 513 kills and a .294 career hitting percentage, the second best in school history for career hitting percentage, only behind All-American Ashley Benson.
In addition to her 513 kills, McDonald posted 241 career blocks and led the Hoosiers with 93 blocks this season.
McDonald was crucial in the Hoosiers two wins over ranked opponents this season. In the win against No. 13 Michigan, McDonald tallied 15 kills and hit .700. She also added 10 blocks for a double-double. The 10 blocks tied the second best mark in school history for blocks in a four-set Big Ten match.
In the Hoosiers win against No. 22 Ohio State, McDonald posted 13 kills and hit .667 for the match.
McDonald and the Hoosiers finished the season with 17 wins, their most wins since the 2010 season.
Jessica Leish is the Hoosiers sportsmanship honoree.
