Hoosiers Record Three Wins on Final Day of Miami (OH) Invitational

OXFORD, Ohio – The Indiana University men's and women's swimming teams ended the Miami (OH) Invitational on a high note, winning three events.
In the men's 200 butterfly, Brian Valedon touched the wall first with a personal-best and NCAA B cut time of 1:46.71 that ranks him as the 10th-best performer in IU history in the event. Kyle Morris took fifth in 1:50.51, while Nolan Plant was sixth in 1:50.97.
Joey Snodderly earned the win in the 1650 freestyle, leading a group of four IU swimmer to finish in the top-9. Snodderly won with a NCAA B cut time of 15:18.08, while Ethan Curl took second with a NCAA B cut mark of 15:18.52. Matthew Kint took fifth with a time of 15:47.30, while Christopher Woods placed ninth in 15:52.89. On the women's side, Hannah Sakaluk was fifth overall in 16:54.20.
Shelby Koontz tallied the Hoosiers' third win, touching the wall first in the 100 freestyle with a personal-best and NCAA B cut time of 49.98. Her time ranks her as the 17th-best performer in the event in school history.
In the women's 200 backstroke, Katie Keller was second overall with a time of 1:59.43. For the IU men, Wyeth Brock finished 12th overall with a mark of 1:51.63. In the men's 100 freestyle, Nicholas Carlson was seventh with a time of 45.85.
Nikola Andjelic led four Hoosiers in the men's 200 breaststroke, taking fifth place with a time of 2:02.42, while Steve Husch was sixth in 2:03.59. Jackson Etter was seventh in 2:03.85, while Sam Apa touched ninth overall with a mark of 2:05.84.
On the women's side, Hope Hayward won the B Final to place 10th overall with a personal-best time of 2:16.16. Her mark ranks her as the 16th-fastest performer in the event in IU history.
Taylor Truex was 12th overall with a time of 2:19.85, while Lydia Welty was 27th in 2:27.70.
In the men's 400 freestyle relay, the IU team of Plant, Carlson, Morris and Valedon took sixth place with a time of 3:04.87. For the Hoosier women, the team of Hayward, Koontz, Truex and Keller touched the wall in ninth in 3:32.09.
