Three Hoosiers Named to NSCAA All-Midwest Region Team

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The National Soccer Coaches of America (NSCAA) announced its All-Region teams on Tuesday, with three Hoosiers selected to the All-Midwest teams.
IU's Tanner Thompson and Grant Lillard were named First-Team All-Midwest Region, while Andrew Gutman was named Third-Team All-Region.
A three-time First-Team All-Region selection, Thompson repeated as Big Ten Midfielder of the Year and earned First-Team All-Big Ten honors for the third-straight season. Thompson had a tremendous year for the Hoosiers, as the senior led the team with 18 points on the strength of eight goals and two assists. The Loomis, Calif. native was clutch for IU, netting four game winners.
A two-time First-Team All-Big Ten and All-Midwest Region selection, Lillard was one of the best defenders in the nation in 2016. The Hinsdale, Ill. product helped Indiana rack up a Big Ten-best 11 shutouts on the season, while scoring three goals to go with one assist.
Gutman earned Third-Team All-Midwest Region and Second-Team All-Big Ten honors for the Hoosiers in 2016 after helping IU record 11 shutouts and post a goals-against average of 0.70. The Hinsdale, Ill. native also scored one goal and had three assists on the season.
