Cahill Earns Academic All-District Honors

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana women's basketball sophomore Amanda Cahill earned Academic All-District honors as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday. Cahill is one of six members of the Academic All-District Team for District 5 which includes Division I schools from the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.
Cahill is majoring in elementary education at IU and is the first IU women's basketball player to be named to an Academic All-District Team since 1999. She is one of only 46 Division I women's basketball student-athletes in the country to earn Academic All-District honors. Cahill will now be featured on the ballot for Academic All-America voting, with those honorees being announced in March.
The Clyde, Ohio, native has started in every contest of her career so far at Indiana. This season, Cahill has achieved eight double-doubles on the year, the most by an IU player in a single season since 2008-09, and has 14 in her career. She is averaging 14.7 points per game and a team-leading 8.3 rebounds per contest as she shoots 51.5 percent from the field and 39.2 percent from 3-point range.
The Hoosiers are currently in fifth place in the Big Ten standings this season with a 16-9 overall record and an 8-5 mark in conference play, the program's most Big Ten wins since 2008-09.
Indiana will play three of its final five regular season games at home, beginning with a match up against Wisconsin on Sunday, Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. ET inside Assembly Hall.
