Monette Named Big Ten Athlete of the Week

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – After a perfect 4-0 weekend in singles and double, Indiana men's tennis senior Sam Monette has been named the Big Ten Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week, the league announced today.
Monette, ranked No. 27 nationally in the last Intercollegiate Tennis Association Rankings, is 14-3 overall in singles and 4-0 in dual matches. In doubles Monette is 8-5 and 2-2 in dual match play.
Monette capped off a productive fall season by advancing to the USTA/ITA National Indoor Collegiate Championships, after winning the singles and doubles title at the Ohio Valley Regional Championships.
Monette is the first Hoosier to earn this honor since Josh MacTaggart on April 24, 2012.
This past week Monette helped the Hoosiers go 2-0 with victories over Virginia Commonwealth and Marquette.
Next up Monette and the Hoosiers are home for two matches on Friday February 5, as they take on Ball State at 12:00 p.m. and Washington at 6:00 p.m.
