INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Former Hoosier quarterback Nate Sudfeld worked out in front of NFL Scouts at the NFL Scouting Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis Saturday afternoon.
The 6-foot-6, 234-pound draft hopeful participated in positional drills, showing off his arm strength and accuracy in front of the scouts on hand. He did not participate in the 40-yard dash.
"I really don't feel that nervous this week," Sudfeld told reporters before his workouts. "I'm just looking forward to competing with the guys and interviewing with these teams and I'm very lucky to be here. But I'm very focused on the task at hand."
Sudfeld told reporters that he feels he left Indiana's program in good hands and is ready to compete at the next level, just as his older brother Zach Sudfeld has done as a tight end for the Jets.
"At Indiana, I was very proud of what we accomplished," Sudfeld said. "(We) got a lot of good things done, did well there, but there were some wins I would've liked to see go our way. Very proud of that program, the coaches we had and what we were able to accomplish."
Though proud of his past, Sudfeld has been at work under the guidance of Mike Sheppard for the future. He'll return to San Diego, Calif., after the Combine for a couple of weeks before returning to Bloomington and eventually participating in Indiana's pro day.
"When the season ended, I sat there and was like, 'What's next?'" Sudfeld said. "I wouldn't say I was focused on the next level and the NFL, but it was in the back of my mind and I knew I always wanted to do it."
Former Hoosier defensive tackle Darius Latham will get his chance in front of the scouts Sunday afternoon to finish off the weekend of work. Offensive lineman Jason Spriggs and running back Jordan Howard worked out Friday.
