BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The No. 53 Indiana men's tennis team has a busy weekend with two home matches on Friday February 5, followed by a match at Notre Dame on Sunday.
On Friday the Hoosiers (2-2) will look to build on their home wins over Virginia Commonwealth and Marquette from last weekend with a 12:00 p.m. match against Ball State, followed by a 6:00 p.m. match against No. 41 Washington.
Last year the Hoosiers traveled to Seattle to take on the Huskies and came away with a tight 4-3 victory. This year Washington has posted a 7-1 record, with their only loss coming in a 4-3 match against then No. 54 UC Santa Barbara.
The Cardinals come in with a 2-1 record with wins against Eastern Illinois and Detroit Mercy and a 4-3 loss against Michigan State.
Earlier this week IU senior Sam Monette was named Big Ten Athlete of the Week. Monette has recorded a 4-0 record in singles matches in the dual season.
"We had two good wins last week and we want to keep the momentum going," IU head coach Jeremy Wurtzman said. "We take each match seriously and are looking to improve each time we step out onto the court."
