BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – On the heels of her first career no-hitter and a 2-0 showing at the Indiana Classic, Indiana Softball pitcher Tara Trainer has been named Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week, the conference announced today.
The award is the second of the season for Trainer and the third overall for Indiana, who saw fellow pitcher Josie Wood pick up the accolade on Feb. 22.
Trainer made three starts during the week, tossing 17.0 innings with a 0.82 ERA and a 2-1 mark.
At No. 17 Kentucky on Wednesday, Trainer took the loss but gave up just two earned runs on four strikeouts in 5.0 innings.

Her second win of the weekend game on Sunday evening as Trainer allowed just two hits in a 1-0 game against Drake. She picked up seven strikeouts in the win and never saw a Bulldog runner advance past second base.
