NCAA Tournament First Round
Postgame Notes
• With the win, the Hoosiers advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament where they will take on No. 1 seed Notre Dame.
• The Hoosiers improve to 21-11 for the season and tie a school record for most wins (including Big Ten Tournament and postseason play). It is the sixth time Indiana has achieved 21 wins in a season.
• The victory is Indiana's first NCAA Tournament win since an 87-76 win over Kentucky in the 1983 tournament and second tournament victory overall.
• Indiana made 16 free throws compared to just one for Georgia. The 2015-16 Hoosiers become the third team in program history to reach 500 free throws for a season (509). The 509 rank third all-time and are 10 away from second on the list.
• For the season, Indiana has made 218 more free throws than their opponents (509-291).
• The Hoosiers have made 68 more free throws then their opponents have attempted this season (509-441).
• Tyra Buss extended her school single season free throw record to 201.
• Her 201 made free throws also rank fourth on the Big Ten all-time list for single season free throws.
• Buss led the Hoosiers with 23 points for her 15th game this season scoring at least 20 points. Buss scored 17 of her 23 in the second half and reached double-figures for the 36th straight game.
• The 23 points by Buss are the second most in school history in a single NCAA Tournament game (Denise Jackson – 25, March 25, 1983 vs. Georgia).
• Buss becomes the fourth player in school history to reach at least 600 points in a single season (610). She has 972 points for her career, a school record for freshman/sophomore combined scoring.
• Buss dished out five assists in the game to raise her season total to 139. She now ranks 10th on the IU single season list.
• Amanda Cahill scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds. Cahill pushed her total rebounds on the season to 274 and is now tied for seventh on the IU all-time list for single season rebounds.
• Karlee McBride connected on 4-of-7 from the field for 10 points and added three steals and one assist.
