Hoosiers total 12 National Academic Squad members; Dye, Hempt Scholars of Distinction
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) announced Wednesday the recipients of the 2015 ZAG Field Hockey / NFHCA Collegiate National Academic Awards. The Indiana field hockey team landed on all three awards lists with 12 National Academic Squad selections, a pair of Scholars of Distinction honorees, and a National Academic Team award.
Junior Morgan Dye and sophomore Elle Hempt were the two Hoosiers selected to the NFHCA Division I Scholars of Distinction list, the highest individual honor awarded by the NFHCA. Student-athletes selected as Scholars of Distinction have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher through the first semester of the 2015-16 academic year.
Dye adds the honor to her Jack D. Tichenor Award, an honor given to Indiana University's male and female student-athletes with the highest cumulative GPA, which she received last month.
Indiana boasted 12 selections to the National Academic Squad, which honors student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2015-16 academic year. Joining Dye and Hempt as Honorees for the 2015 season are Nora Aucker, Kate Barber, Malia Fujisawa, Mollie Getzfread, Katie Johnson, Maddie Latino, Karen Lorite, Taylor Swope, Nicole Volgraf, and Claire Woods.

Indiana's 12 selections ties the second-highest total in a single season (First: 14 in 2008).
As a team, the Hoosiers landed on the list of National Academic Team Award winners, given to institutions with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the first semester of the 2015-16 academic year. Indiana was one of eight Big Ten teams to make the list.
