Ferrell Earns 3rd Team NABC All-American Honors

KANSAS CITY, Missouri -- The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced today - March 28 - the 2016 NABC Coaches' Division II All-America teams. Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC in NCAA Division I, these student-athletes represent the finest basketball players across America. Among those selected was Indiana's Kevin Yogi Ferrell, who was named Third Team All-American.
The senior guard from Indianapolis averaged a team-best 17.3 points and 5.6 assists per game as the Hoosiers won the Big Ten Championship outright by two games and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. In the game against No. 1 seed North Carolina, he dropped 25 points and moved into sixth place on the IU career scoring list (1,986). He finished his career with an IU-record 633 assists, which also ranks ninth all-time in Big Ten Conference history. Additionally, his 195 assists this season are the second-most in a single season in IU history, trailing Isiah Thomas' 197 set during the 1980-81 season.

About the National Association of Basketball Coaches
Located in Kansas City, MO, the NABC was founded in 1927 by Phog Allen, the legendary basketball coach at the University of Kansas. Allen, a student of James Naismith, the inventor of basketball, organized coaches into this collective group to serve as Guardians of the Game. The NABC currently has nearly 5,000 members consisting primarily of university and college men's basketball coaches. All members of the NABC are expected to uphold the core values of being a Guardian of the Game by bringing attention to the positive aspects of the sport of basketball and the role coaches play in the academic and athletic lives of today's student-athletes.
