Field Hockey Announces 2016 Spring Schedule

Indiana will host the Hoosier Spring Tourney April 23
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana field hockey coach Amanda Janney has announced the Hoosiers' exhibition schedule for the 2016 spring season. The Hoosiers will take part in three tournaments, including the Hoosier Spring Tourney at the IU Field Hockey Complex on April 23.

Saturday, April 2 – Sunday, April 3 | University of Louisville | Trager Stadium
April 2: 11 v 11 Tournament
10:00 a.m. ET – Miami (Ohio) vs. Indiana
12:20 p.m. ET – Louisville vs. Indiana
5:35 p.m. ET – Indiana vs. Ohio
This weekend's tournament in Louisville will be the first field hockey action since the conclusion of the 2015 season, and it will feature some of the top hockey programs in the Midwest. The Hoosiers will have early looks at Fall 2016 opponents Miami and Louisville, followed by an exhibition against Ohio University. The format will be 11-on-11 on the turf with two 25-minute halves.

The tournament weekend will shift to a seven-on-seven format on Sunday, April 3. Indiana will field two teams, named "Indiana 1" and "Indiana 2", in the round robin-style tournament. Both teams will play three 25-minute games in their respective groups with the result determining their point total (three points for a win, one point for a tie, zero points for a loss). After the round robin games, teams will be placed in order of their points total for the final pool.

12:35 p.m. ET – Game 15: 1st A vs. 2nd B | Game 16: 1st B vs. 2nd A
1:05 p.m. ET – Loser Game 13 vs. Loser Game 14 (7th-Place Game)
1:05 p.m. ET – Winner Game 13 vs. Winner Game 14 (5th-Place Game)
1:35 p.m. ET – Loser Game 15 vs. Loser Game 16 (3rd-Place Game)

Hockeypalooza
The Hoosiers will continue their spring campaign next weekend in Ann Arbor with the annual Hockeypalooza tournament on Ocker Field. The tournament will be 11-on-11 with two 25-minute halves. For the Hoosiers, they'll face two familiar Ohio-based opponents from their 2015 schedule.
April 16:

3:00 p.m. ET - Indiana vs. Kent State

Hoosier Spring Tourney
Indiana will conclude their spring season with the comforts of home, hosting the Hoosier Spring Tourney at the IU Field Hockey Complex. The Hoosiers will square off against the Miami Redhawks for the second time this spring, followed by an exhibition against the USA Field Hockey Junior High Performance team. The Junior High Performance squad features college-aged and post-college field hockey players vying for a chance to represent the United States at the international level.
The schedule and game times remain to be determined for the Hoosier Spring Tourney.
