Wood’s One-Hitter Leads Hoosiers Past Georgia State, 3-0

AUBURN, Ala. – Behind freshman pitcher Josie Wood's second career one-hitter, Indiana Softball shutout Georgia State on Friday afternoon, 3-0.
Wood didn't surrender a hit until a long single in the sixth inning. She finished the game with six strikeouts and three walks for her third career complete-game victory.
Indiana's first hit of the game came on a two-run double by sophomore Rachel O'Malley, scoring senior Kelsey Dotson and junior Kayla Mathewson, who had both reached on walks. O'Malley was brought in one batter later as sophomore Kennedy Cribbs recorded her first career RBI on a single to center.
The Panthers looked to answer in the sixth as Ivie Drake's single to right-center put a pair of runners on with no outs, but Wood picked up a pair of strikeouts on the way to ending the threat.
Friday's win is the second of the season against the Panthers as Indiana also defeated Georgia State in the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz. on Feb. 13, 4-1.
The Hoosiers return to action tonight against No. 3 Auburn.
