Track Splits Dual with Purdue
After topping the Boilermakers in the indoor season, the men's team once again defeated Purdue by a score of 88-72. Indiana's women fell to the Boilers by a score of 85-75.
Nakel McClinton topped her own school record again in the hammer throw. This time her mark was 65.12m. McClinton continued her big day by winning the discus with the fourth best throw in school history with a mark of 52.28m. Andrew Miller took second in the men's hammer throw with a mark of 63.35m and Dyrek Chowning finished third with a mark of 60.63m. Chowning improved to fifth in school history with that mark.
Paul Galas helped the Hoosiers sweep the men's high jump. He set a new season best of 2.13m to win the event. Treyton Harris took second with a mark of 2.09m, and Steven Leonard was third with a jump of 2.05m. Rachel Mather finished second in the high jump with a leap of 1.65m. Taylor Pennington was third with a mark of 1.60m.
Sophie Gutermuth set a new season best mark in the pole vault with a mark of 4.32m. Sydney Clute also upped her season best with a mark of 4.22m. Dylan Anderson took first in the men's pole vault with a clearance of 4.90m. Andrew Huber finished second with a mark of 4.55m.
Willie Morrison finished second in the shot put with a career best mark of 18.35m. He is now sixth in school history in the event. David Schall took third with a career best throw of 18.02m. He is now tied for tenth in school history. Chowning led the sweep of the discus throw with a winning mark of 51.90m. Morrison took second with a mark of 51.24m and Schall was third with a throw of 48.15m.
Taylor Williams won the 400m dash with a time of 54.27. That mark is good for seventh in school history. Riley Egbula finished second with the eighth best time in school history of 54.59. In a photo-finish Daniel Kuhn finished second in the men's 400m dash with a time of 47.05.
Brianna Johnson won the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 10:34.89. Madison Stenger took second with a season best time of 11:07.51. The Hoosiers took the top two times in the men's steeple with Jason Crist, who took first, with a season best time of 8:51.59 and Jeremy Coughler, who finished second, at 8:58.86. Katherine Receveur used a strong late push to take first in the 3,000m run with a time of 9:50.02. Haley Harris finished second with a time of 9:52.70. Owen Skeete crossed first in the 3,000m run with a time of 8:22.83. Coughler took third with a time of 8:24.24.
Indiana swept the women's 1,500m run with Katherine Receveur crossing first with a time of 4:25.23. Brenna Calder took second with a mark of 4:26.46 and Haley Harris rounded out the scoring with a time of 4:29.01. The sweep carried over to the men's 1,500m run with Owen Skeete taking the victory. His time was 3:47.96. Josh Roche finished second with a time of 3:50.32. Mark Chandler took third with a time of 3:50.91.
It was a clean sweep for the Hoosiers in the men's 800m run. Jordan Huntoon crossed first with a time of 1:50.65. Rorey Hunter was just behind in second at 1:50.90 and Joe Murphy placed third at 1:51.28. Olivia Hippensteel and Kellie Davis scored for the Hoosiers in the 800m run with times of 2:07.37 and 2:07.88, respectively.
Michelle Adeniyi and Alice Babashak took first and second in the women's javelin throw. Matt Birk placed second in the javelin throw with a season best mark of 57.73m.
Ari Nelson finished second in the long jump with a mark of 5.89m. The men's long jump saw Eric Bethea take second place with a season best mark of 7.05m. Treyton Harris finished third with a mark of 6.94m.
Zach Reitzug took second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 51.61, the ninth best time in school history. Diquis Manley scored a point for his third place finish with a time of 52.52. Mackenzie Bollinger finished second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:01.19, her top time this season. Jeyland Valentin finished third with a time of 1:01.69, which is also her season best.
Adrian Mable finished second in the 110m hurdles with a season best time of 14.27. Cornelius Strickland finished third in the 100m dash with a season best time of 10.64.
The 4x100m relay team of Ari Nelson, McKaya Eves, Maya Caudle, and Jaela Gay ran the tenth fastest time in school history with a mark of 45.97. The men's team of Tyler Bellaire, Cornelius Strickland, Phillip Moore, and Markevious Roach finished with a season best time of 40.88.
