Hoosiers Fall to Iowa in Big Ten Tournament

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Indiana men's tennis team dropped a 4-1 match against Iowa in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday in Minneapolis.
The Hoosiers (11-15) and Hawkeyes (12-16) split the first two doubles matches with Iowa winning at No. 1, 6-2 and Chris Essick and Stefan Lugonjic picking up a 6-3 win at the No. 2 spot. Iowa claimed the match at No. 3 doubles, 7-5 to earn the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead in the match.
Iowa pulled ahead 2-0 with a win at No. 2 singles, but IU got on the board as freshman Antonio Cembellin won his 19th singles match of the year, 7-5, 7-5 at the No. 5 position.
Three of the four remaining matches went to a third set, with Iowa clinching the match on a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 win at the No. 6 singles position.
The Hoosiers closed the season winning six of their last seven matches.
