Day One of the Penn Relays Comes to a Close
Josh Roche won the steeplechase with a time of 8:52.77, Eric Claxton finished second with a time of 8:55.35, and Jeremy Coughler was 10th at 9:09.20. Haley Harris took 18th in the women's steeplechase with a time of 10:55.20.
Michelle Adeniyi finished 11th in the heptathlon with a score of 4479, the 10th best point total in school history. Alice Babashak took 17th in the event with a total of 3783 points. Dylan Anderson, who held a day one lead in the men's decathlon, was unable to finish the event, dropping out after nine completed events.
The women's DMR team of Brenna Calder (3:30.98), Sydney Anderson (57.52), Kellie Davis (2:13.74), and Brianna Johnson (4:50.30) finished seventh.
Mark Chandler finished fourth in the men's 5,000m with a time of 13:59.83, a new season best. He becomes the fourth Hoosier to run sub 14 minutes in the event. Bobby Browning finished 21st in the 10,000m with a time of 31:06.22. Chanli Mundy crossed eighth in the 5,000m run with a season best time of 16:41.63. Amanda Behnke finished 12th in the 3,000m run with a time 9:55.71.
The 4x400m relay team of Riley Egbula, Kendell Wiles, Mackenzie Bollinger, and Taylor Williams finished 13th with a time of 3:45.58
Mackenzie Bollinger finished 27th in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:02.83. Jeyland Valentin finished 43rd with a time of 1:04.64.
The women's 4x100m relay team of Williams, Egbula, Maya Caudle, and Jaela Gay took 24th with a time of 47.30.
Both the Drake and Penn Relays will be back in full swing tomorrow. The Penn Relays will begin with a couple Hoosiers running in the men's 400m hurdles at 9:00AM EST. The women's long jump will be the first Drake Relays event with Indiana representation. The event is set to start at 11:00AM EST.
