Strong Performances Finish Busy Track Weekend
The 4xmile team of Matthew Schwartzer, Owen Skeete, Rorey Hunter, and Jason Crist took second with a time of 16:26.84. The team held the lead with just over 200m to go but was unable to hold on at the end.
Laura Schroeder threw a season best 63.85m (209ft-6in) in a fourth place finish in the hammer throw. Nakel McClinton took fifth with a mark of 63.71m (209ft even). Andrew Miller threw 60.34m (197ft-11in) in the men's hammer throw, which was good for second. Dyrek Chowning finished right behind his teammate with a throw of 59.23m (194ft-4in).
In the men's shot put, Willie Morrison took eighth with a mark of 18.60m (61ft-.25in). That mark is a new personal best and puts him fifth in school history. David Schall finished ninth with a throw of 17.75m (58ft-3in).
Sydney Clute finished third in the pole vault at the Drake Relays. Her mark of 4.30m (14ft-1.25in) is the fourth best mark in school history.
The men's 4x800m relay team of Jordan Huntoon, Joe Murphy, Daniel Kuhn, and Hunter finished third with a time of 7:23.73. The women's team of Brenna Calder, Kellie Davis, Kendell Wiles, and Olivia Hippensteel finished eighth with a time of 8:45.20.
Paul Galas finished 15th in the high jump with a mark of 2.03m (6ft-8in).
Indiana will be back in action on Friday in Bloomington as they host the Billy Hayes Invitational.
