BLOOMINGTON, Indiana - In a rematch of their 2016 NCAA East Regional Semifinal matchup, Indiana will host 2015 national runner-up North Carolina on Wednesday, November 30 as part of the 2016 Big Ten/ACC Challenge. Network designation and times will be announced later by ESPN. Indiana won the 2016 Big Ten Championship and North Carolina took home the same for the Atlantic Coast Conference.
This will be the fourth time the two storied programs have met in this event. IU has won two of the previous three meetings including an 83-59 triumph in Assembly Hall in 2012. The Tar Heels future national championship team captured a 70-63 win in 2004 in Bloomington and IU won 79-66 in Chapel Hill in 2001. IU holds an 8-6 advantage in the series, but UNC defeated the Hoosiers, 101-86, in the Sweet Sixteen in Philadelphia last March.
In this year's ESPN 2016-17 Way Too Early Preseason Poll, UNC is ranked sixth and Indiana is ranked eighth. The Tar Heels finished second in the final 2016 USA Today Coaches Poll and the Hoosiers were ninth.
