Clute Earns Big Ten Athlete of the Week

Sydney Clute earned her first Big Ten Athlete of the Week honor this season. She finished third in the pole vault at the Drake Relays with a career best mark of 4.30m (14ft-1.25in). She is fourth in school history in the event.

This past indoor season, Clute won the Big Ten Championship in the pole vault. She set the indoor school record in the process with a mark of 4.35m (14ft-3.2fin).

Clute is currently ranked second in the conference, only behind teammate Sophie Gutermuth. Nationally, she is the 15^th ranked pole vaulter.

Sydney becomes the first field athlete to be honored by the Big Ten Conference this outdoor season. Daniel Kuhn is the only other Hoosier to be named Athlete of the Week in the second half of the season, earning honors at the end of March.

Sydney, and the rest of the Hoosiers, will be back in action on Friday as they host the Billy Hayes Invitational.
