BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Softball placed 13 student-athletes on this year's Academic All-Big Ten list, the most in program history. In addition, the team is tied for the second-most in the conference, trailing only Illinois.
The conference announced the honorees on Wednesday, including a school record 117 student-athletes across 10 spring sports at Indiana.
"To have a school record 117 students receive spring Academic All-Big Ten honors speaks volumes about the quality of our students, coaches, and academic support staff," said IU Vice President and Director of Athletics Fred Glass. "Reaching our highest academic potential is one of our top priorities, and we could not be prouder of this achievement by our students who participate in intercollegiate athletics.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must be letterwinners who are in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
Of the 13 selections, five are receiving the recognition for the first time, while four have been named Academic All-Big Ten twice. Seniors Katelyn Conenna, Kassi Farmer and Michelle Huber are three-time honorees, while redshirt senior Shannon Cawley has now earned it four times.
