Velasquez Selected to Colombian Olympic Roster

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Women's Soccer alumna Orianica Velasquez was named to the Colombian Women's Soccer Olympic team on Thursday, marking the second straight Olympics for the Bogota, Colombia native.
After playing in the 2012 Games in London, Velasquez became the first IU Women's Soccer player to appear in the Olympics. Velasquez started all three games, registering nine shots in Colombia Women's Soccer's first-ever showing in the Games.
"We are so excited and proud of Ori for making the Olympic roster for a second time," said Indiana head coach Amy Berbary. "She is an excellent representation of Indiana Women's Soccer and we can't wait to cheer her on as she represents her native country on this incredible stage."
Velasquez played for the Hoosiers from 2009-12 and sits at fourth all-time in career points (64) and goals (26). A 2012 Second Team All-Big Ten pick, Velasquez is also the first Hoosier to appear in the FIFA World Cup as she played in both the 2011 (Germany) and 2015 (Canada) tournament.
