Assistant Coach Brian McCants Named Head Coach at Xavier

BLOOMINGTON, Indiana - Indiana assistant coach Brian McCants, who has worked with head coach Mike Mayer and the Indiana men's program the last four seasons, was hired as the head coach for the men's golf program at Xavier University.
"We are thrilled for Coach McCants and this tremendous opportunity," Mayer said. "When he joined us here at IU some four years ago it was with the goal of helping us continue to build our program and also the dream of becoming a D1 head coach. That dream has now been realized and we fully believe that he is ready for this new chapter in his life."
McCants came to the Hoosiers prior to 2012-13 season from the University of Kansas, where he was an assistant. In his four years with Indiana, he helped the Hoosiers win four team tournament titles and advance to the NCAA Regional in 2013.
"We are deeply indebted to Coach McCants, his wife Lauren, and his entire family," Mayer continued. "They have been a great addition to our IU family and are grateful for everything they have done for Indiana University and our men's golf program."
