An incoming freshman from Montreal, Quebec, Nacouzi made her mark on Canada's campaign to the gold medal final. Nacouzi has scored 10 goals, dispersed among three separate hat tricks, in Canada's first five games.
The Canadian women opened the tournament with an 18-11 win over Brazil in the round robin stage. Nacouzi earned her first hat trick of the tournament in the win. After that, Canada handed the United States their only loss of the tournament, a 15-11 win in favor of Nacouzi's squad.
Canada cruised to a 19-1 win over Trinidad and Tobago in their third round robin game. Nacouzi shared the top of the scoring tally with teammate Yasmine Rachid, as each netted four goals.
"Our performance today remained the same as the previous two games," Nacouzi said after Canada's win against Trinidad and Tobago. "The tempo wasn't quite as high as our other two games, but that didn't change how we viewed today's game or the way we mentally and physically prepared. We tried some new things, worked on things we normally would do and got it done tonight."
The Canadian women followed the big win over Trinidad and Tobago with a decisive 21-9 win over Puerto Rico, in which Nacouzi secured another hat trick. The two teams met just days later in the tournament's semifinals, and Canada again emerged victorious, 15-4.
For water polo fans across the Americas, a matchup between Canada and the United States in the gold medal game is guaranteed to bring excitement and a hard-fought contest. The opening sprint will take place at approximately 7:30 p.m. ET, and Nacouzi's Canadian team will compete for gold on their home soil. Follow the action via the Water Polo Canada live stream.
