BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – In just two weeks the Indiana volleyball team reports for their first official practice of the 2016 season and the season opener is 32 days away. The Indiana volleyball schedule features 16 home matches this season.
The Hoosiers hope to continue to build momentum from a 2015 season, which saw the team go 10-2 in nonconference play before finishing the season 16-16 and 6-14 in Big Ten play. It was the first time since 2010 when they went to the Sweet 16 that the Hoosiers finished with an overall record at .500 or better.
With nine teams from the Big Ten making the 2015 NCAA Tournament and the Hoosiers being the 10th team they know they are close to achieving one of their goals.
The Hoosiers welcome in the No. 29 ranked recruiting class with five incoming freshman and a sophomore transfer. That will add to a solid group of veteran players with five seniors on the 2016 roster.
The 2016 Hoosiers open the season with the Indiana Invitational Aug. 26-27 at University Gym with a 7:00 p.m. match against Northern Kentucky on Friday Aug. 26 opening the season.
Indiana will be back at home Sept. 16-17 for the Hoosier Classic and will open Big Ten play at home on Wednesday Sept. 21 against Northwester.
Throughout the season the team will have several promotions and giveaways. Some of these include a Girl Scout Night (Aug. 27), Student Appreciation (Sept. 16), Dads & Daughters (Sept. 17), 90's Night (Oct. 1), Dig Pink (Oct. 14), IU Volleyball Alumni (Oct. 29), Cook Medical Night (Nov. 5) and Senior Night (Nov. 12).
There are multiple options with tickets for the 2016 season. Although the special Red Zone section is sold out, general admission season tickets can be purchased at $48 for adults and $16 for youth (ages 3-18). Indiana University students and faculty and staff are free with a valid IU ID.
New this season, a flex season ticket package is also available where you receive eight vouchers redeemable at any regular season IU home match in 2016 for GA admittance. The cost is $32 for adults and $16 for youth.
Individual match tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for youth. Children age two and under are free. Groups of 25 or more can buy tickets for $2 per person.
Tickets can be purchased online at the link above or by calling the IU athletic ticket office at 812-855-4006 or 866-IUSPORTS.
