Head coach Kevin Wilson liked his team's ability to battle through the adversity, today and the entire week.
"It was a good ending to a good week," Wilson said. "It has been a tough week. We have battled the weather. We have had some really tough practices on Thursday, Friday and into today. I like the ending of this week. We have got to have another great week, but it is going good."
Today's practice was broken down into three segments. The first was the warm-up and walk-through section, which led into the scrimmage setting on the field and concluded inside with some situational play.
"Inside we did a lot of score zone situations," Wilson said. "I thought that the defense, outside of a couple of big plays, tackled really well. They minimized the big plays and had a great day. Offensively, we have got to be tougher at the line of scrimmage and we need to continue bringing the quarterbacks along."
The defense played exceptionally well and earned high praise from Wilson as a result. Defensive coordinator Tom Allen has his team flying to the football and playing with a high level of energy.
"Defensively, I thought we started out really strong," said Wilson. "We did a sudden change and put the ball in the scoring zone and the defense had a couple of negative plays and made the offense punt. Our linebackers Tegray Scales, Marcus Oliver and Dameon Willis showed up and played well. Marcelino Ball is doing awesome, so is Zeke Walker. I thought we tackled very well. I think the one-on-one tackling is the best it has been. I think our defense is understanding the leverage and where its help is, so they are being more aggressive. I do not think we are out of position much and that is why we tackled well."
