Updated Day One Draws from ITA Summer Nationals

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has released the updated draws for the second round of the men's and women's singles tournament, which commenced Saturday on the Indiana University campus.
Sunday's second round of the men's singles tournament will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the UIndy Tennis Center. The round of 64 and round of 32 will be played as an eight-game pro set, while the round of 16 will be played to the best of three sets with a ten point tiebreaker.
The women's tournament will begin Sunday at 8:30 a.m. at the IU Tennis center, and will follow the same format as the men for the rounds of 64, 32, and 16.

Three Hoosier Women Reach Second Round
The Indiana women's tennis team saw three athletes advance to the second round of the ITA Summer Nationals singles tournament. Rising sophomores Madison Appel and Caitlin Bernard, along with incoming freshman Anna McCoy, will be put to the test in Sunday's second round action.
Bernard secured her advancement with an 8-1 match win over Sarah Monesmith (JHS). The Belchertown, Massachusetts native contests for a spot in the third round against top-16 seed Maci Epstein (Miami) tomorrow at 2:30 p.m.
McCoy is headed to the second round after her 8-2 win against Elizabeth Trupp (BVWHS), and she will square off versus sixth-seeded Zoe Katz (USC) on Sunday at 1:15 p.m. Appel, who received a bye in the first round, will make her tournament debut on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. against Kamilia Czosnyka (MSHS).
Other Hoosiers in action on Saturday included incoming freshman Emma Love, who dropped an 8-1 match against Anki Wind (Memphis). Paulina Jahren, another 2016-17 newcomer, fell 8-1 to Mya Bui (PHS) in the opening round.
Four Advance from IU Men's Tennis
Following Saturday's first round in the women's singles competition, four Indiana men's tennis players advanced to Sunday's second round, which will take place at the UIndy Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Indianapolis. Hoosiers in action during tomorrow's second round include Alfonso Salgado, Stefan Lugonjic, Matt McCoy, Antonio Cembellin, and Raheel Manji.
Salgado snagged his first tournament win of the weekend with an 8-2 match victory against Ismail Kadyrov (Detroit), and he'll look for a second win on Sunday when he takes on top-24 Marko Lovrinovic (Virginia Tech) at 12:30 p.m. In similar fashion, Lugonjic secured an 8-3 win over Nicholas Schnobel (Western Michigan). Lugonjic will also take the court at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow when he faces another top-24 seed, Toby Bayer (Nebraska).
Incoming freshman William Piekarsky compiled a valiant effort in the first round, but came up short in an 8-7 (1) decision against Zach Berry (Dayton).
Having received first round byes after receiving a seed in the top 24, McCoy, Cembellin, and Manji will begin their tournament play in tomorrow's second round. McCoy opens at 11:00 a.m. against Alex Pozo (SIUC), followed by Cembellin's match versus Nathan Griffin (Notre Dame) at 12:45 p.m.
Manji, seeded second overall in the men's tournament, faces the winner of Saturday's match between Zach Fryer (Denver) and Brandon Benedict (Rose Hullman).
