BLOOMINGTON – Indiana University Athletics will host the second annual IU Football Glow Run on Sept. 9 at 9 p.m. ET at Memorial Stadium to kickoff the 2016 home schedule. IU Athletics will also begin offering free athletics complex tours on select Fridays prior to home football games beginning on Sept. 23.
The IUFB Glow Run is an approximately 1.2 mile run around Memorial Stadium that continues through Mellencamp Pavilion and will end on the playing field. During the run, participants will pass through black lights, neon and glow-in-the-dark lighting throughout the course. A live DJ will be on site as music will be blasted throughout the run with a firework finish inside the stadium.
Participation in the event is free and is open to students and the general public. Last year, nearly 1,000 fans took part in the run. Those wishing to run can register ahead of time by visiting IUHoosiers.com.
New in 2016, IU Athletics will open the doors to Memorial Stadium for fans to tour on Fridays before home games beginning on Sept. 23. Fans will get a behind-the-scenes look of the life of an IU student-athlete including academics, training, competition and more. Tour stops will include Memorial Stadium, Mellencamp Pavilion, the stadium press box and the W. Jay and Nancy Wilkinson Performance Center. Tours will be led by student ambassadors and Indiana staff members that will give a modern yet historical perspective on IU Athletics and its facilities.
The Friday night tours are free to the public. The 2016 tour dates include Sept. 23, Sept. 30, Oct. 14, Oct. 28 and Nov. 11 and will run every 10 minutes beginning at 7 p.m. ET each of those evenings. Registration for the tours begin on Sept. 1 for all dates at IUHoosiers.com.
