Sanjuan, Harper and Pierre named Preseason Big Ten Women’s Golf Honorees

CHICAGO – Indiana Women's Golf Senior Ana Sanjuan, sophomore Erin Harper and freshman Elisa Pierre been named Preseason Big Ten women's golf honorees, announced by the league on Wednesday.
Sanjuan, a native of Aviles, Spain, will return for her senior season where she held the team's third lowest scoring average in 2015-16 (75.03) and the eighth-best single-season average in school history. She posted a top 15 finish in the Big Ten Championships with a score of 215 and finished tied for 50th at the NCAA Regional in Bryan, Texas.
Harper is coming off a stellar freshman campaign where she set a new IU record for scoring average by a freshman as she averaged a 74.42 as she played in all 11 stroke play tournaments in 2015-16. The Dublin, Ohio native ranked second on the team in scoring average and posted a season-best 69 in the final round of the Big Ten Championship where she finished 21st.
Pierre will embark on her rookie season when IU opens up its season in less than two weeks after qualifying for the 2016 U.S. Women's Amateur this summer. She was a three-time league champion at Golden Valley High School in Santa Clarita, Calif. where she also finished eighth in the CIF Stats Championships.
The Hoosiers, under the direction of head coach Clint Wallman who enters his 13th season, open the 2016-17 season in less than two weeks at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic in Fort Collins, Colo. Sept. 12-13.
