SAN DIEGO - Mike McCoy wasn't the only head coach at Chargers Camp on Thursday.Indiana University men's basketball coach Tom Crean took in the sights and sounds of this morning's practice as a guest of General Manager Tom Telesco. The pair has known each other since Telesco's days working for the Indianapolis Colts.
The Hoosiers boast one of the most famous college programs in the country, and Crean explained the similarities between his practices and the Bolts':
"My son's in California for a baseball tournament, so we worked this in to stop in here and see Tom, Mike, (Director of College Scouting) Kevin (Kelly) and the whole group. I like to think we are trying to make our practice at Indiana more like football practices in the sense of intensity, level of detail, technique, energy and enthusiasm. Obviously they are two different sports and two different levels of physicality, but when it comes to the structure of practice, I learned an awful lot (today). The structure of the Chargers program and hope they practice goes hand in hand."
