Hoosiers Complete Perfect Fall Weekend

WESTFIELD, Ind. – Indiana Softball improved to 4-0 on the weekend as the Hoosiers picked up a 6-2 victory against Butler and a 6-4 win against Miami (Ohio) on Sunday afternoon at Grand Park.
In the first game of the day against the Bulldogs, Indiana scored all six runs in the final two innings of play to get the win.
Freshman Gabbi Jenkins plated a pair of runs and picked up a hit, while freshman Katie Lacefield, sophomore Sarah Galovich, junior Rebecca Blitz and senior Kayla Mathewson each scored once. Blitz and junior Taylor Uden collected a pair of hits in the game, including a key RBI single in the sixth inning by Uden. Junior Shayna Gamm and senior CaraMia Tsirigos each brought in a pair of runs for the Hoosiers.
In the circle, sophomore Tara Trainer tossed a complete game, allowing just two runs and striking out 10.
Game two saw the Hoosiers put up a four-run fourth inning to propel them to a 6-4 win. Junior Aimilia McDonough scored twice while Blitz, freshman Sydney Hester, senior Erin Lehman and junior Sarah Thompson plated one run.
Redshirt sophomore Emily Kirk earned the victory, tossing 4.0 innings while sophomore Jessica Conenna stepped in the circle for 3.0 innings of relief.
Indiana resumes fall play on Sept. 30 as the Hoosiers host Indiana State in a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m. All Indiana homes games are free of charge.
