Postgame Quotes
Junior Forward Taylor Pearson
How do you feel about the team's performance today, a 5-0 shutout win and the second shutout in a row?
PEARSON: "It was a solid team performance. We had a lot of momentum building from last weekend's win, and today we just laid it all on the field. We had a lot of sparks off of the bench, it was a true team effort and we got the win."
The team had success on the attack corner, including you with two goals and an assist. What success was the team finding in those set plays?
PEARSON: "We've been working hard at corners in practice, especially with being able to read the defense and knowing what will work, especially when to step up and take the shot. Our hard work in practice really paid off and led to that success today."
What was the focus at halftime which resulted in four second-half goals?
PEARSON: "All season we've been talking about coming out fast in the first five minutes of the game to set the tone. Since that didn't happen for us today, we knew at halftime that we needed to make a change and step it up. We came out knowing that we had to score, and getting some in the back of the net after having so many chances felt really good."
What is the focus as you look to your next game, Sunday versus New Hampshire?
PEARSON: "We want to build off of these last two wins. We've been really successful with working on our presses and other aspects of our game that we've been able to improve. We want to bring that into Sunday's home game, and we'll hope to get that first home win of the season."
Senior Midfielder Morgan Dye
What opportunity did you see on that goal, your first score of the season?
DYE: "It's a corner play that we've worked on a lot in practice. Taylor Pearson crossed the ball to me on that set, so I held back and waited for an opening. It was a really well-executed corner on her part."
What was the team able to get done in the second half, when you scored four goals?
DYE: "Scoring four goals in the second half instilled confidence in our team that we're able to score and put up a lot of offense on other teams."
How important is this game against New Hampshire, the final game remaining before the Big Ten opener next weekend?
DYE: "It's a huge game, especially since we open next weekend at Maryland. They'll be a tough opponent, so Sunday's game is going to be a lot of figuring out who works well together and where everyone needs to play. We want to be able to give our best game this Sunday, and in turn next weekend at Maryland."
