BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Women's Soccer again earned the Herbert Cup for posting the highest team GPA at Indiana during Fall 2016, marking the third straight semester the team has won the award and the fourth time in the last five semesters.
A semester after registering the highest GPA in team history, the Hoosiers once again impressed, earning a 3.6 team mark.
"I am just so proud of the improvement we had on the season on the field, as well as our team still maintaining our high standards in the classroom," said head coach Amy Berbary. "I could not be more proud as a coach to see these kids use their full potential and strive to push themselves."
The program also earned the Herbert Cup in Spring 2016, Fall 2015 and Fall 2014.
Last month, the Hoosiers saw 14 members land on the Academic All-Big Ten list, marking the seventh straight season with at least 14 nods. On an individual level, sophomore Caroline Dreher was recognized as one of just 16 Academic All-Big Ten selections to maintain a perfect 4.0 GPA, while redshirt senior Marissa Borschke was named NSCAA Second Team Scholar All-Region.
Junior Kylie Kirk served as the team's academic captain, leading efforts to foster a competitive academic environment within the group.
"I was so excited to hear that we had won the Herbert Cup again," said Kirk. "Our team is very driven and competitive so it's great that we have been able to use those characteristics not just on, but off the field. We help push each other internally to do the best that we can each semester."
