BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Katherine Receveur has become a must-watch sensation on the track this season. In tonight's installment, Kat threw down a 9:10.23 in the 3,000m run. That time is second in school history, trailing only Michelle Dekkers. Her time is also the quickest time in the NCAA this season. Brenna Calder crossed second with a time of 9:31.38.
William Session recorded the fourth fastest time in school history in the finals of the 60m hurdles. He improved upon his semi-final time of 8.07 to run an 8.04. Adrian Mable finished seventh in the finals. The women sent four to the finals of the 60m dash. Megan Grabowski earned silver with a time of 7.58, the 10th fastest mark in IU history. Brittany Thomas finished fourth, Ari Nelson was seventh and Jaela Gay came in eighth.
Andrew Miller continued his strong season, winning the weight throw for the third consecutive meet. The junior won with a mark of 19.80m (64-11.5), besting the runner-up by more than three inches.
In the invitational section of the 400m dash, Taylor Williams was the fastest collegiate runner, second overall, with a time of 56.03. Kendell Wiles finished fourth and Riley Egbula crossed in seventh. On the men's side, Zach Reitzug was the runner-up with a time of 48.33. Caleb Ojennes finished fourth and Markevious Roach was fifth despite running the fastest time in the second heat.
In the women's pole vault, Rachel Mather won with a clearance of 3.95m (12-11.5). She was the only competitor to clear at that height, and that established a season best mark for the junior.
Bryce Millar finished second in the men's 3,000m run with a time of 8:02.87. Millar improved his season best time by over five seconds and moves into the third spot on the NCAA list and the fastest in the Big Ten. He was closely followed by teammates Matt Schwartzer (8:07.38) and Kyle Mau (8:07.88).
Chanli Mundy wasted no time establishing her dominance in the women's 5,000m run. Just five laps into the race she opened up a gigantic lead and never looked back. She won the event with a time of 17:12.06, a top 25 time in the NCAA.
Day two of the Gladstein Invitational will get started with the men's long jump at 10:50 a.m. The 200m dash finals, the first track event, will start at 10:50 a.m.
