Hoosiers Release Spring Schedule

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana volleyball team will play in three competitions this spring, including hosting the 2017 Spring Bash with Indiana State. The Hoosiers have been back at work since early January putting in training for this spring and next fall.
"Spring is about making breakthroughs and pushing through walls to mentally and physically get stronger," IU head coach Sherry Dunbar-Kruzan said. "It's also about breaking down skills in the gym by position to help our players reach their potential during this eight-hour segment of training."
"Things will change somewhat when we move into our 20 hour/week schedule in March," Dunbar added. "We expand offensively as a team and look at ways this group can be successful next fall. In addition to the training, this group is finding their identity, growing as leaders and making goals for where they want to go."
The team will start spring competition with the Spring Bash on Friday March 24 at 6:00 p.m. against Indiana State.
The following weekend the Hoosiers will travel to Indianapolis to take part in the Indy Collegiate Spring Invitational, hosted by The Academy Volleyball Club on Saturday April 1.
"We are fortunate with spring scheduling that we have enough good competition close to us that we don't need to travel a great deal," Dunbar-Kruzan said. "We want to try different line ups, work on expanding our offense and play a lot. We will have 11 freshmen and sophomores next year so working together and competing will allow them to start forming their identity as a team."
Indiana will close out spring competition by making the short drive to West Lafayette for the Purdue Spring Invitational on Saturday April 22. Teams in the tournament are scheduled to be Indiana, Purdue, Ball State and Notre Dame.
"Our senior class had a huge influence on our program on and off the court so it's now time for our players to grow into different roles," Dunbar-Kruzan said. "That's a great transition to make and to observe as coaches. We're only three weeks in but I'm already seeing some of that transition take place."
