BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana freshman Griffin Dorsey was one of 20 players named to the U.S. Under 18 Men's National Team, U.S. Soccer announced last week.
Dorsey and the U.S. U18 team will play a pair of friendly matches in Spain. The camp begins on Monday, Oct. 2 with games against Belgium on Thursday, Oct. 5, and Russia on Sunday, Oct. 9. Dorsey will miss the Hoosiers' matches against Evansville on Oct. 3 and Penn State on Oct. 7.
"We are excited Griffin has the opportunity represent our National Team," IU head coach Todd Yeagley said. "The future is bright for Griffin and I expect more opportunities to come his way as he continues to develop and gain valuable experience during his career at IU."
Dorsey is no stranger to the U.S. U18 squad, having played for the team in tournaments in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Portugal. This season for the Hoosiers, the Evergreen, Colo. native has made an immediate impact, totaling two goals and four assists. The freshman has started all 10 matches for Indiana this season.
The No. 1 Indiana Hoosiers will host in-state rival Evansville on Tuesday, Oct. 3 at Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium. Kickoff in Bloomington is set for 7:30 p.m. ET and the match will be streamed live on BTN Plus.
