BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Softball officially welcomed Savannah Boone to the Hoosier family on Friday, thanks to the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation.
Boone, who grew up an Indiana Softball fan and has been closely connected with the team over the last year, has battled brain tumors over the last few years. However, she has continued to persevere and is currently in remission.
Prior to Friday's Cream and Crimson scrimmage, Boone threw out the first pitch and is now an honorary member of the Hoosiers, complete with a jersey and her own locker.
The Friends of Jaclyn Foundation aims to improve the quality of life for children battling pediatric brain tumors and other childhood cancers by pairing them with local teams, clubs and community groups.
