JOHN'S CREEK, Ga.– Senior Alix Kong shot a 1-over par and is tied for third overall while Indiana is in fourth place after the opening round of the Ladies Fall Intercollegiate Invitational at Atlanta Athletic Club on Friday.

The West Vancouver, British Columbia native closed out the round with an even performance on the front nine and had two birdies on the day as she is just one stroke behind the field's leader in Georgia's Rinko Mitsunaga (72).

Along with Kong, freshman Priscilla Schmid and junior Erin Harper are in the top 25 of the 73 player field. Schmid carded a 76 to come in T13^th while Harper added a 78 to be T23rd in the first 18 holes of the 54-hole tournament.

Sophomore Elisa Pierre made four birdies in the round and added an 80 (T33rd) while freshman Angela Aung rounded out the IU field with an 82 (T45th). Playing as an individual, sophomore Carolina Garrett is T68th (90).

As a team, Indiana put up a team round of 307, just one stroke behind third place Illinois (306). Georgia led the field with a 299 while host Louisville is in second (302).

The second round of the tournament will get underway tomorrow with tee times starting at 9:20 a.m. ET.
