On Peyton Ramsey before his first collegiate start...
"I haven't seen a big change, he is who he is which is great and what you want to see. He has always been a great guy in his preparation. He's always been a guy who is first in every meeting, first out on the field, first at everything he has done when he was in a back-up role. I've seen him be a little verbal in situations, which you want to do. My challenge to him was just be you. Run the offense like you have this season, prepare the way you have. To me, when you're out there playing, whether you're taking the first snap or the 13th snap, it's all the same. It's just playing football. I think he's had a really good week of preparation as our team has. It's important for us to bounce back this week and go out and play well."
On preparing for Charleston Southern...
"A lot of times when you play these early opponents, you've done work over the summer on them. That wasn't the case with Charleston Southern, obviously, because of the circumstances. For us, there is some carryover from Georgia Southern so I think that has helped. They do things differently for sure. I think that carryover is a big positive and you just have to kind of get in the film room and study, both sides of the ball and special teams. Spending some extra time over the weekend getting ready to go and that's what our coaches did. We had some good preliminary work done last week like we always do with our GA's. I feel like our guys are ready."
On what he wants to see out of special teams...
"We've been really effective in special teams. We had the two major mistakes against Penn State so it's both personnel and some scheme things on our hammer team, which is our kickoff cover unit. To me, the score team, which is our punt return team, has to hold onto the football. For me, it just gives us a chance to emphasize. The individual who hit the returner, someone is supposed to block him. The technique involved with blocking him, working on that and working on our footwork and hand placement. Being able to do the little things right to prevent that from happening in the future. I think it's a back to basics mentality when you don't do well. Our goal for special teams is simple and explosive, that's what we want to be."
