IU Women’s Soccer Earns Sixth Consecutive Team Academic Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Indiana Women's Soccer has been recognized by United Soccer Coaches (formerly NSCAA) with the Team Academic Award for the sixth straight year and the 10th time in program history, the organization announced on Thursday.
The award encompasses the 2016-17 school calendar year and is given to teams who posted at least a 3.5 GPA during that time. During last school year, IU Women's Soccer recorded two of its highest GPA marks in team history by posting a 3.6 or higher in both semesters. For its success, the Hoosiers were awarded Herbert Cup in Fall 2016, which is an award given to the IU program with the highest team GPA.
In addition, Indiana placed 14 on the Academic All-Big Ten list in Fall 2016 and placed a program-best 10 on the Big Ten Distinguished Scholars list.
The Hoosiers also earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award in 1999, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.
A total of 813 soccer teams (282 men, 531 women) from throughout the United States have earned the Team Academic Award for exemplary performance in the classroom as a team during the 2016-17 academic year. Indiana was among 195 schools receiving honors for both their men and women's teams.
