Hoosiers Fall Against Michigan

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Bayli Lebo led the Indiana volleyball team with 12 digs, but the Hoosiers fell against a Michigan team with a lot of momentum, in three sets (25-20, 25-15, 25-15) on Friday at University Gym.
Indiana was led in kills by redshirt sophomore Kendall Beerman with seven. Freshman Kamryn Malloy hit .400 for the Hoosiers and sophomore setter Victoria Brisack tallied 27 assists. Hayden Huybers led Indiana with three blocks.
Michigan, winners of four straight coming into the match, hit .306 with 15 kills in the opening set, but Indiana remained close at 14-13 midway through. Michigan scored nine of the next 13 points to build a six-point lead at 23-17 and won the first set, 25-20.
In the second set sophomore Ally Badowski provided a spark off the bench for Indiana with three kills on six attempts for a .333 hitting percentage. As a team Indiana hit .094 compared to a .300 hitting percentage from the Wolverines. Michigan led the whole way and went up 2-0 in the match with a 25-15 win in the second set.
In set three, junior Elizabeth Asdell came alive for the Hoosiers with four kills on eight swings and hit .375 in the set. The Hoosiers (12-19, 1-18) made nine attack errors and Michigan hit their best single set hitting percentage at .391. Michigan got a kill and forced an Indiana attack error to end the set at 25-15 and take the match in three sets.
Up next the Hoosiers play the final match at University Gym, by hosting Michigan State on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. Indiana will celebrate senior night and honor Jessica Leish and Kristen Ostach after the match.
