ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Big Ten Conference announced that TPC River's Bend in Maineville, Ohio, just outside of Cincinnati, will be the site for the 2017 and 2018 Big Ten Women's Golf Championships. The 2017 championships will be held from April 21-23, while the 2018 event will be played from April 20-22.
"We are very excited to bring the Big Ten Women's Golf Championships to TPC River's Bend over the next two years," said Big Ten Associate Commissioner Wendy Fallen. "It's a remarkable course, and we know that our students will have an enjoyable and memorable experience."
"Having the opportunity to host the Big Ten Women's Golf Championship at TPC River's Bend is exciting for both the club and our membership, and adds another layer to the great Cincinnati sports scene," said General Manager/Director of Golf Jack Hunter. "Over time, we have hosted many high-level events, including PGA TOUR Champions, the Web.com Tour, and the National Junior PGA Championship. Bringing competitive collegiate golf at the highest level to TPC River's Bend is significant. And, to be part of one of the best Division I conferences makes it more special. We are looking forward to some great golf and hope to provide the students a special weekend."
The Big Ten Women's Golf Championships have been played annually since 1982, including a 54-hole format since 2012. Eight different schools have won the Big Ten Championship, with Ohio State leading all conference programs with 14 team titles. Indiana has won seven championships, while Michigan State and Purdue have claimed six titles. Northwestern has won three Big Ten Championships, while Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin have earned one title.
The 2017 event will mark the fourth time in conference history that the Big Ten Women's Golf Championships have been played in the state of Ohio, after the 1988, 1994 and 2004 events were held in Columbus.
