Indiana Women's Soccer sophomores Abby Allen and Caroline Dreher spent their 2017 Spring Break in Seoul, South Korea as part of a course with Indiana's Kelley School of Business. The purpose of the trip was to learn and experience more about the economics of the country. Dreher gives a special look at their trip below:
On Day 1, we visited Sungkyunkwan University. We are standing in front of a building called Myeongnyundang, which was originally built in 1398. The name means "Hall of Enlightenment" and was used for university admittance exams. Abby Allen, Indiana Men's Soccer's Jeremiah Gutjahr and Caroline Dreher
Another highlight was the visit to Gyeongbokgung Palace. We saw many young adults dressed in traditional Korean dress, or Hanbok, and taking pictures on the palace grounds.
My favorite part of the trip was a scavenger hunt we took around the entire city. Finding our way around Korea by subway, taxi, and bus was quite the adventure. This picture was taken in a market in Insadong, a district of Seoul.
These pictures were taken on a hike of Ansan Mountain. The view of Seoul from the mountaintop was incredible!
At the Korean Folk Village, our class watched a traditional Korean dance called Pungmul, or Farmer's Dance. It involves drumming, dancing, singing, and a lot of jumping and spinning from the performers!
