BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana Women's Soccer defeated Indiana State in the first full-sided game of the Spring on Friday night, 1-0.
Freshman Meghan Scott picked up the gamewinner for the Hoosiers as she scored with 16 minutes remaining in the contest, which took place at Bill Armstrong Stadium. After freshman Allison Jorden was fouled 40 yards out, the service was originally cleared but a second ball in was whistled for a Sycamore handball 20 yards from goal. Scott delivered that free kick directly into the net, sending it in to the bottom right corner.
Scott was key to the Indiana offense in the Fall, collecting seven points, which was second highest on the team.
Freshmen goalkeepers Sarah L'Hommedieu and Bethany Kopel combined to shut out Indiana State as the two teams played three 30-minute periods. L'Hommedieu turned in four shutouts in the Fall for the Hoosiers while Kopel was seeing just her second action in a Hoosier uniform. Indiana opened spring play in February in a 7 v 7 tournament at the University of Illinois.
Indiana returns to action on April 8 as the Hoosiers host Miami (Ohio) at 2 p.m. Admission to all home games is free of charge.
