BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Women's Soccer earned its third straight spring victory, defeating Illinois State at Bill Armstrong Stadium on Saturday, 3-0.
Junior Annelie Leitner and freshman Macy Miller netted goals for the Hoosiers, with the third score coming via an own goal.
Leitner put the Hoosiers on the board in the 25th minute as she sent the ball in from 35 yards out into the upper left corner. In 2016, Leitner scored in Indiana's season opener against Louisville before missing the remainder of the year with an injury.
Macy Miller, who was named to the 2016 Big Ten All-Freshman team, extended the Hoosier lead just one minute later as Kayla Smith found her inside the box and Miller buried it.
The Hoosiers extended the lead in the 54th minute as an Abby Allen service was knocked in by an Illinois State defender, resulting in an own goal.
Freshman goalkeeper Bethany Kopel played every minute between the pipes, as the Hoosiers earned their third straight spring shutout.
Indiana wraps up its Spring schedule next Saturday as the Hoosiers travel to St. Louis to face the Billikens at 3 p.m. ET.
