Hoosiers Fall to Michigan in Big Ten Tournament

URBANA, Ill. – The No. 10 seed Indiana women's team came up short against No. 2 seed Michigan with a 4-0 defeat on Friday at the Atkins Tennis Center.
The Hoosiers (14-14) dropped the doubles points with Michigan wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The Hoosiers top team of Kim Schmider and Madison Appel led 5-4 when their match was stopped.
Schmider and Appel were playing the No. 9 ranked doubles team in the country, Kate Fahey and Alex Najarian. In Bloomington when the Hoosiers played Michigan the Wolverine duo was ranked No. 2 in the country and Appel and Schmider also led 5-4 when the match was stopped.
The Wolverines, the Co-Big Ten Regular Season Champions, improved to 20-4 on the season and have won 12 straight Big Ten dual matches.
Fahey, ranked No. 25 in singles, put the Wolverines up 2-0 with a win at No. 1 singles. Michigan added another point with a win on court three. The Wolverines clinched the match with a win at No. 6 singles.
