UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Indiana men's tennis (11-10) dropped a match, 5-2, to the Penn State Nittany Lions on Sunday afternoon at the Sarni Tennis Center.
In the loss, the Hoosiers picked up wins at the five and six singles spots.
Penn State won the doubles points with wins at the second and third spot. At the top spot, junior Raheel Manji and Keivon Tabrizi were paired up and went up 5-4 before the match went unfinished.
IU rebounded early in singles as they pulled together wins at the last two spots. Freshman Bennett Crane won 6-4 in the first set at five singles and then finished the match with a 6-2 second set win. When playing at either the fifth or six spot, Crane has a 7-2 record.
Indiana took a 2-1 lead for a short time when sophomore Oliver Sec edged out his opponent at six singles in a first set tiebreaker and then came back in the second with a 6-3 win.
The Nittany Lions stormed back with four straight wins at the top four spots to win the match 5-2.
Coming up, the Hoosiers will play their last two home matches, on Friday, April 14 against Nebraska and Sunday, April 16 against Iowa. At Sunday's match, seniors Stefan Lugonjic and Matthew McCoy will be honored.
