Janney’s spring additions expand incoming class to eight
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana field hockey head coach Amanda Janney announced Tuesday the addition of two signees to the Hoosiers' incoming class. Forward Rylee Pearson (North Vancouver, B.C., Canada) and goalkeeper Sachi Ananias (Santiago, Chile) will join the Hoosiers for the Fall 2017 season.
The spring additions bring a considerable boost to an already talented freshman class, which rises to nine women with Pearson and Ananias. An agile and dexterous forward, Pearson will bolster the Hoosiers' front line, especially while working in tandem with her former prep teammate and older sister, rising senior Taylor Pearson.
Ananias will give Janney a desirable depth at the goalkeeper position alongside senior Katie Johnson and fellow newcomer Shelby Querry. And after a strong showing at last year's FIH Junior World Cup in her hometown, Ananias should make a quick impact on the position group.

RYLEE PEARSON | M/F | North Vancouver, B.C., Canada
Rylee Pearson comes to Bloomington after two seasons at Windsor Secondary, reaching the All-Star second team in 2013. Primarily, Pearson honed her craft at the club level, completing an 11-year run with the West Vancouver Field Hockey Club that included two years on the Women's Premier Team.
Pearson got on the turf whenever and wherever she could. She represented British Columbia at the provincial level and earned four medal finishes: bronze and silver in the U16 National Championships (2013-14) and bronze in both appearances at the U18 National Championships (2015-16). Pearson also trained and traveled with the Rob Short Coaching Academy for four seasons, picking up MVP honors at the 2015 Webber Natural Challenge. Her experience with the academy extended to the 2014 World Youth Field Hockey Tournament, where she represented on the U16 and U18 teams.
Pearson brings a diverse athletic background to her playing style as well. She was a two-year letterwinner for North Windsor's basketball team, which won a provincial championship in 2014. Pearson also has a decade of experience as a soccer player with three years of varsity ultimate.

SACHI ANANIAS | GK | Santiago, Chile
Sachi Ananias will become the first athlete in IU Athletics history from her home country of Chile when she arrives on campus next fall. Ananias was a recent standout at last season's Junior World Cup as one of the youngest players selected to Chile's national team, earning an 11th-place finish as the host nation. In their final game of the campaign, Ananias made three shootout saves to lead Chile to a 2-2 (1-3) victory. She has played at the U14, U16, U18, and U21 levels for Chile.
Additionally, Ananias served as team captain at the prep level for head coach Isidora Maira at The Grange School. She received the school's Full Colour Hockey award in her final two seasons, the Grange School's top all-around athletic honor. Ananias was named to the Association of British Schools in Chile (ABSCH) dream team, and she won the ABSCH seven-a-side tournament title in 2014 and 2015.
Away from the turf, Ananias was a top honor student, captained The Grange School's volleyball team, and won the ABSCH eight-a-side soccer tournament in 2015.
