Miller Selected in 31st Round by Minnesota Twins

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana sophomore third baseman Luke Miller was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the 31st round and the 916th overall pick of the 2017 MLB Draft on Wednesday afternoon.
Miller becomes the 90th all-time draft pick at IU. Indiana has now had 20 players selected in the last five years.
Miller returned for his second season in 2017 after being named a 2016 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American. He was Indiana's first Freshman All-American since RHP Scott Effross in 2013.
This season, he had a reached base streak of 23-straight games snapped on April 14th against Minnesota, IU's longest reached base streak for an individual player in 2017. Miller was tied for third in the Big Ten in runs (52), tied for eighth in home runs (10), and was 11th in total bases (109).
In conference games only, the Muncie, Ind. native finished tied for third in doubles (9), tied for eighth in home runs (5) and tied for 10th in home runs (22).
An All-Big Ten Freshman Team selection in 2016, Miller played in 53 games, making 51 starts, and finished second on IU in batting average (.284), hits (54), doubles (11), third in stolen bases (7) and sixth in RBI (23). The Muncie, Ind. native's .333 batting average in Big Ten games only in 2016 ranked 10th in the conference.
