Men’s Tennis Summer Update

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – This summer IU men's tennis players and alums have been busy on the court. Many have played in summer tournament and have had excellent results. Here is a summary of several players, who have been in action this summer.
Antonio Cembellin
-Has qualified for three futures main draws this summer
-Best win is over #1366 Bruno Mardones
"I like that all of my teammates are playing tournaments and practicing with both coaches this summer," Cembellin said. "That means we are sacrificing to get better as a team this summer which will hopefully help us to be successful this season."
Afonso Salgado
-Has qualified for one future main draw this summer
-Best win is over Justin Roberts of University of South Florida #1373
"I believe the summer is a great opportunity to put in a lot of time on the court," Salgado said. "Traveling to tournaments with my teammate Antonio and seeing my teammates competing hard and having success has pumped me up to keep improving and represent Indiana well."
Raheel Manji
-Has picked up three ATP points this summer
-Best result is quarterfinalist at the 25k in Saskatoon, Canada
-Best win is against Marcel Felder #738
"I believe that as a team we have been really focused all summer at getting better and competing," Manji said. "I'm happy with my teams' commitment and am excited to continue to work towards achieving our team goals this season."
Keivon Tabrizi
-Has qualified for three futures main draws this summer
-Has picked up two ATP points this summer
-Best win is over #944 Joshua Paris
IU alum Sam Monette
-23 points picked up over the summer
-Best result is when he made the finalsof the 15k F20 Futures in Rochester, June 20-26.
-Best win is against Moriya (Japan) #187
"Indiana University is the best thing that ever happened to me," Monette said. "Not only it has helped me become a successful tennis player, but also to become a man. The whole IU experience made me ready to face the hardest situations a 23-year-old can imagine, on and off the court. I couldn't imagine being on the tour without my journey at Indiana."
Antonio Cembellin
