IUWS Lands Program-Best 10 on Big Ten Distinguished Scholars List

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Big Ten Conference office announced the 2016-17 Distinguished Scholars today, with Indiana Women's Soccer landing a program-record 10 on the list. In addition, the 10 selections are the most in the conference amongst women's soccer programs.
The Distinguished Scholar award is given to those who recorded at least a 3.7 GPA or higher during the 2016-17 school year. The student must be a letterwinner in the second year at the institution.
Marissa Borschke, Kylie Kirk, Ari Kowalski and Kayla Smith earn the honor for the second time in their careers, while Abby Allen, Caroline Dreher, Veronica Ellis, Bristal Hadley-Mautino, Annelie Leitner, Justine Lynn and Maya Piper are first-time recipients. Additionally, Piper and Allen were also recognized for posting a perfect 4.00 GPA during the 2016-17 school year.
All 10 honorees also earned Academic All-Big Ten nods in December as the group earned the program's third straight Herbert Cup for posting the highest Indiana team GPA in Fall 2016.
